It’s almost time for Art Basel Hong Kong! The general public is invited to attend the fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) from Friday, March 27, through Sunday, March 29. For those seeking early access, an exclusive vernissage is taking place on Thursday afternoon, March 26 (tickets available here). The full event will be filled with extraordinary artworks and special events: Here is everything you’ll need to know to plan the perfect visit.
The fair
The 2026 edition of the show will host 240 world-class galleries from 41 countries and territories, with over half hailing from Asia Pacific, reaffirming Art Basel Hong Kong’s role as a global platform rooted in the region. The fair is divided into several exhibition sectors, each with its own focus.
Encounters, the sector dedicated to large-scale installations, sculptures, and performances, has been curated for the first time by a collective, led by Mami Kataoka, who worked alongside Isabella Tam, Alia Swastika, and Hirokazu Tokuyama. Twelve artworks will be presented, articulated according to the five elements outlined in Asian cultures. Highlights will include a multimedia textile installation landscape by Suki Seokyeong Kang (Kukje Gallery); Parag Tandel’s yarn-based installation exploring ancestral connections to the sea (Tarq); and glazed ceramic sculptural works by Masaomi Yasunaga (Lisson Gallery). Encounters will also extend beyond the HKCEC: Christine Sun Kim’s site-specific digital animation installation A String of Echo Traps (2022–26) will be on view at Pacific Place’s Park Court until April 12.
A brand new sector, Echoes, will be spotlighting pieces created within the past five years in focused displays of work by up to three artists. Highlights here will include Max Estrella’s presentation of Tiffany Chung’s embroidered maps of spice routes and Miler Lagos’s carved book sculptures, as well as an immersive spatial installation by the Polish artist Natalia Załuska, presented by Double Q Gallery (Hong Kong).

Public program
The Public program returns with free public access to screenings within the Film sector, live debates presented by the Conversations team, and collaborative events with cultural institutions across Hong Kong, reinforcing the fair’s connection to the city and its communities.
For the fifth year, Art Basel and M+ have co-commissioned an artwork for the M+ Facade, presented by UBS. From March 23, the Pakistani American artist Shahzia Sikander’s radiant animation 3 to 12 Nautical Miles will be bringing her hand-painted watercolors to life on the museum’s exterior, mapping enduring currents of power, trade, and global exchange.
Conversations, Art Basel’s flagship talks program, returns to Hong Kong with an expanded four-day format and 11 talks, including the traditional Premiere Artist Talk, this year with Shahzia Sikander. One day of the programming will be guest-curated and moderated by the acclaimed curator and writer Venus Lau, Director of Museum MACAN in Jakarta. The three panels meeting that day will examine digital world-making, the shaping of cultural and bodily flows, and the social mechanics of fear, with a roster of speakers that includes Angela Su, Steph Huang, and Joshua Serafin.
The Exchange Circle, located on the Level 1 Concourse, will serve as an open platform for short and experimental presentations, including artist talks, discussions, lectures, book presentations, signings, and workshops.
The Film program, meanwhile, has been curated by Ellen Pau, a pioneering media artist and curator whose practice has shaped Hong Kong’s art and technology landscape.

The Art Basel Shop
Returning to Hong Kong, the Art Basel Shop will once more be filled with a selection of lifestyle products that celebrate and enhance the Art Basel experience.
The AB by Artist Collection will feature an exclusive body of work by the Hong Kong-based artist Chan Wai Lap, created especially for the Art Basel Shop. Rooted in Lap’s long-standing fascination with public swimming pools as spaces that blur the boundaries between public and private, self and other, the pieces center on his ‘LOVEGUARD’ body of work.
Visitors will also be able to peruse the shop’s Core Collection and collaborations: This season’s highlights include the highly anticipated Art Basel Hong Kong Labubu by Kasing Lung and the upcycling pioneer FREITAG’s exclusive, new-edition tote bag. Meanwhile, collectors and art enthusiasts alike will appreciate the Marc Jacobs Joy line, featuring collaborations with Derrick Adams, David Shrigley, and Hattie Stewart. The shop will also be spotlighting works from the digital art community, hosting in-store activations, and offering Artist and Author meet-and-greet moments, creating an immersive experience that will bring together a global community of art and design.
