Art Basel in Basel is around the corner. The fair is open from Thursday, June 19 to Sunday, June 22, featuring extraordinary artworks and special events, performances, and experiences. For those seeking early access, an exclusive vernissage takes place on Wednesday, June 18 (tickets available here). Below is everything you need to know to plan the perfect visit.

The fair

The 2025 edition of the show will host 289 world-class galleries from 42 countries and territories, solidifying the fair’s unrivaled position as the premier event for the global art market, serving as a hub for discovery, connection.

  • Unlimited, curated by Giovanni Carmine, the director of Kunst Halle Sankt Gallen, will present 67 large-scale immersive installations by distinguished and emerging artists.
  • The Parcours sector is a public exhibition that will take over downtown Basel. Curated for the second consecutive year by Stefanie Hessler, the director of New York’s Swiss Institute, it will center this year on the theme of ‘Second Nature,’ bringing together works that explore the increasingly blurred boundaries between nature and artifice.
  • New this year, Art Basel introduces its Premiere sector, offering galleries an exclusive stage to showcase bold, cutting-edge works created in the last 5 years by up to three exceptional artists.
  • Renowned artist Katharina Grosse will transform Messeplatz and its surroundings into an outsize, immersive painting, curated by Natalia Grabowska.

Talks

Talks covering various topics will be staged from Thursday to Sunday – all free and open to all.

  • On Thursday, June 19, the Conversations program will bring together inspiring cultural figures for dynamic discussions. See all Conversations here.

The Art Basel Shop

Designed to celebrate both the dynamic world of art and the unique cultural identity of each host city, the Art Basel Shop will present a selection of items that reflect the fair’s rich history and forward-thinking vision. As Guest Artist, Katharina Grosse will present an exclusive capsule collection: limited-edition hand-painted soccer balls, transparent bags, and tape featuring machine-applied designs drawn from her signature gestures. This year’s highlights also include a limited-edition Labubu by artist Kasing Lung; an exclusive FC Basel collector’s jersey; artist Thomas Bayrle’s raincoat; and a limited-edition poster from renowned AI artist Sasha Stiles. The Art Basel Shop also hosts book signings, artist meet-and-greets, and special activations, bringing you closer to the creative minds shaping today’s art world.
